95th Annual General Meeting

Sutton Park Town Hall was packed with close to 50 members and even more visitors for our 95th AGM and Chairman’s Report. We started off in a traditional way with multiple agenda points and votes surrounding the committee and other aspects of our association.

This was then followed by the Chairman’s report. What members might not have expected at this stage, was an actual musical, where the first part of the report was delivered to Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer belted out by James Mundye – our Chairman! The remainder of his report was enhanced by a display of various photos covering the amazing events that decorated last season. Multiple outreach events in line with our motto of promoting the craft of beekeeping were fondly remembered as well as lots of different social events.

We celebrated our achievements not only at our Honey Show, but also at the County and National where a number of our members had stewarded and others had achieved huge successes including a first at the National! Our biggest achievement was possibly reviewing all of the training and exam results that have been undertaken in the last year and presenting some certificates.

It was a proud moment to hear that we had significantly contributed to Warwickshire winning the George Knight’s Memorial Award. This is presented annually by the British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) to the association which makes the most progress in examinations and assessments beyond the Basic certificate.

It was lovely to see a mix of old and new members as well as some who have just started our winter course. The formality of the AGM process was mixed in with cups of tea and coffee and social catchups – another fun evening in our association. Thank you to all who make it as special as it is.
