Remembering Julian Routh…
On Sunday 14th April, we gathered at our Apiary with some of Julian’s family to plant a commemorative apple tree. Our Association shared this special moment with Julian’s wife, Linda, two of his children and two of his grandchildren who all participated in the tree planting (including bee suits!)
A plaque was also planted which read; ‘Julian Routh – a great Sutton beekeeper whose teaching and knowledge were an inspiration for so many’.
The tree and plaque are aptly planted in our Beginners area, where so much knowledge and time has been imparted by Julian and the rest of the team.
Afterwards, we shared a drink to toast Julian and talked about some memories that his children have of being and participating at the apiary and other memories of his beekeeping with the family.
Thank you for everything Julian – a truly great Sutton beekeeper.
