Walking in Memory of Will Hooley

Earlier this year, our Association lost a much-valued friend and fellow beekeeper, Will Hooley.

Will was a respected member of our beekeeping community, always willing to share his extensive knowledge, offer encouragement to others, and bring warmth, humour and friendship to every apiary meeting. He is greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Following Will’s brave battle with pancreatic cancer, his wife, Anne Hooley, has taken on a personal fundraising challenge in his memory. Throughout June, Anne is walking 60 miles to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK, helping to support the charity’s vital work in research, awareness and support for families affected by this devastating disease.

Despite the challenges of the summer heat, Anne has continued to make steady progress towards her goal, walking around two miles each day. Her determination is a fitting tribute to Will and reflects the strength and courage they both showed throughout his illness.

As an Association, we know how much Will meant to so many of us. His passion for beekeeping, his generosity in sharing his knowledge, and his ever-positive outlook made him a valued mentor and friend.

Supporting Anne’s fundraising is a wonderful way for us to honour Will’s memory while helping others who may face pancreatic cancer in the future.

If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated. Every contribution will help Pancreatic Cancer UK continue its important work and will be a lasting tribute to Will.
